A 49-year-old woman living alone was found dead on the morning of May 26 in Estancia, Iloilo.
The body of Warlita Conaco, 49, was discovered at her home in Purok 4, Barangay Gogo, Estancia.
Police said Edna dela Cruz, the victim’s aunt, found her lying inside her house. Conaco, who was suffering from an undisclosed illness, was last seen alive around 11 a.m. on May 25.
Conaco sustained a hematoma on her left face, and blood was oozing from her nose.
Major Marvin Buenavista, Estancia police chief, said the victim’s underwear was only pulled up to her knees.
“This might have been the reason why it was initially thought that there might be foul play in her death,” Buenavista said.
However, members of the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) team believe she might have gone to the loo, which is situated outside her small hut, and felt sick. It is theorized that she struggled to fix her underwear.
Buenavista said investigators did not find any signs of forcible entry or struggle.
While police are still investigating the case, Conaco’s family is convinced she died of natural causes.
