BACOLOD CITY — Police are investigating whether the fatal stabbing of a 33-year-old woman inside her home in Sitio Dangalon, Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, on Sunday was connected to her husband’s activities.
Police identified the victim only as Ai-ai.
Hilamonan is one of Kabankalan City’s 32 barangays and had 18,685 residents in the 2024 census.
Police Lt. Nolly Gudaca, deputy chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, said the woman’s husband found her wounded after returning home from driving a tricycle in the city center.
The husband heard their children crying and calling for help before seeing his wounded wife and seeking assistance from neighbors.
The woman suffered multiple stab wounds and was declared dead at a hospital.
Police said the couple’s three children had been asleep but awoke to their mother’s cries.
One of the children saw an unidentified person repeatedly stabbing their mother, police said.
The woman fought back during the attack, prompting the assailant to flee the home.
Gudaca said investigators had no leads and had not established a motive.
Police were also examining whether the killing could be linked to the husband’s activities, he said.
