BACOLOD CITY – A 44-year-old woman died and her 80-year-old father was seriously injured after being electrocuted at a resort in Barangay Miranda, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental on Sunday.
Police Capt. Darryl Kuhutan, chief of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said the family was having an outing at the resort when the incident occurred.
While going to the comfort room, the older victim was reportedly struck by a live wire.
His daughter tried to help him, but the electric current transferred to her, resulting in severe injuries.
Kuhutan said the woman was declared dead at a hospital, while her father remains confined in a private hospital in Bacolod City.
He added that police are investigating possible negligence on the part of the resort.
The establishment has yet to release an official statement, Kuhutan said.
He also confirmed that the victims’ family is considering pressing charges against the resort management.
