Barely a month after her stint in jail, a woman found herself behind bars anew after being arrested in a drug sting operation.
Vanessa Merambil, 38, of Barangay San Jose Arevalo, Iloilo City was collared 8:40 p.m. of February 10, 2021.
Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 5 busted Merambil at Barangay Airport, Mandurriao, after she allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P2,100.
Recovered from the suspect were six sachets of suspected shabu, a mobile phone, and a coin pouch.
Major Jonathan Pinuela, Mandurriao police chief, said the suspect is a street level individual.
She was arrested for a drug-related offense in 2014 but was released from jail in January 2021.
Merambil allegedly returned to the illegal drug trade because she had no other means of livelihood.
Merambil has an 18-year-old daughter and is living with a construction worker.
The suspect is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
