BACOLOD CITY — A 52-year-old woman is back in jail after police seized PHP 1.43 million worth of suspected shabu from her rented house in Purok Star Apple 2, Barangay 27, on Monday.
Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit seized 210 grams of suspected shabu from alias Sapsap, a resident of the village.
Police Lt. Richard Legada, assistant CDEU team leader, said the suspect had applied for probation after she was released from detention on June 1 following her arrest for a drug offense on Feb. 28.
Legada said police received information that the suspect was allegedly actively involved in illegal drug activities in Barangay 27 and nearby villages.
Based on two weeks of monitoring, police found that the suspect allegedly served as a keeper of illegal drugs and distributed them to her trusted downline customers, Legada said.
The suspect was tagged as a high-value individual and was listed by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council, Legada said.
He added that the suspect reportedly used proceeds from the illegal drug trade to cover her medication costs.
Shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, is classified as a dangerous drug under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region reiterated its commitment to intensifying intelligence-driven anti-illegal drug operations and sustaining strong collaboration with the community.
