BACOLOD City – A woman who was arrested for theft last Wednesday was gunned down at Barangay Poblacion, Bayawan City, Negros Oriental the following day.
Killed was Gina Parojinog, 53, of Barangay Lantad, Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Police Chief Master Sergeant Edelberto Euroba III, public information officer of Norppo, said Parojinog earlier identified herself as “Gina Ortega” when she was arrested by a security guard at Barangay Sta. Catalina town last Wednesday, after she allegedly stole a cash box containing P6,180 from a store.
Euroba said the store owner did not pursue charges against Parojinog that’s why the latter was released after the lapse of the reglementary detention period.
The following day, the victim was walking along CM recto Street, when two unidentified men on board a scooter allegedly shot her from behind.
Police recovered from the scene two cartridges of caliber .9mm ammunition. The investigation is ongoing.
