PBA commissioner Willie Marcial is still indecisive about whether to send Moala Tautuaa and CJ Perez to the Chooks-to-Go 3×3 league as part of their preparations for the FIBA 3×3 Qualifying Tournaments.
Chooks 3×3 head coach Eric Altamirano previously said that he wants to have Tautuaa and Perez form a team with their FIBA teammates, Joshua Munzon and Alvin Pasaol to join in the first season of the Chooks 3×3.
Coach Altamirano proposed the idea saying that the squad of Tautuaa, Perez, Munzon, and Pasaol will already have that distinct chemistry heading into FIBA as they strive to qualify for the World Cup.
“Kung ako lang sana masusunod, I would love that. Mas gusto ko ‘yun. If you combine the four players in a competition setting, mas maganda kaysa ‘yung practice lang ng practice,” Altamirano said.
However, the PBA chief said that if ever he will be allowing both of his players to join in the 3×3 league, conflicts may occur with their PBA schedule especially that their planned next season is nearing already.
“Baka may practice na kami nun. Magsisimula na kami nun,” said PBA commissioner Marcial who is currently mapping out added protocols for the resumption of their league.
Following Marcial’s decision, Altamirano said he understands the situation and is hopeful that both camps can come up with a win-win remedy.
“We have to consider also ‘yung dalawang players natin coming from the PBA, may mga plano rin ‘yung mother teams nila, ‘di ba? They’re about to restart na rin,” added Altamirano.
