An 18-year-old who police said was the No. 2 most wanted person in Western Visayas was arrested late in the afternoon of April 1 in Barangay Guinobatan, Leganes, Iloilo.
Police identified the suspect only as alias Chris, also a resident of Leganes.
Members of the Leganes Municipal Police Station tracker team arrested the suspect by virtue of a warrant for statutory rape under Article 266-A(1) in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act No. 8353 and Republic Act No. 11648.
The warrant was issued March 31, 2026, by the Regional Trial Court, 6th Judicial Region, Branch 27, in Iloilo City.
The court set no bail for his temporary liberty.
Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, Western Visayas police chief, commended Leganes police personnel for “their unwavering commitment to public safety and for delivering justice to the victims of these crimes.”
He also assured the public that Police Regional Office 6 will continue intensifying efforts to pursue other wanted persons, secure justice for victims, and make Western Visayas safer.
