Western Visayas will host its largest healthcare technology conference on June 25-26 at Diversion 21 Hotel, gathering about 300 leaders, government officials, and industry experts.
The Healthcare Information Management Conference is co-presented by the Department of Trade and Industry Region VI, the Iloilo City and Provincial Governments, and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines, with support from various government agencies and private sector partners.
With the theme “Advancing the Future of the Healthcare Ecosystem in Region 6,” the event aims to position Western Visayas as the country’s premier destination for Healthcare Information Management Services, or HIMS.
“This conference represents our region’s bold leap to position Western Visayas as the preferred global destination for Healthcare Information Management Service,” said Rachel N. Nufable, DTI Region VI director.
She said one of the conference goals is to attract international locators and generate thousands of high-value jobs.
Senior executives from top healthcare and tech firms such as Carelon Global Solutions Philippines, Sagility, AvodahMed, and major telecom providers will participate.
The initiative is expected to spur job creation and attract tech investments to the region, placing Western Visayas alongside IT-BPM hubs like Manila and Cebu.
The event aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s digital transformation agenda and the national push to capture a bigger share of the global healthcare information market.
Day two will feature innovations in artificial intelligence, including AvodahMed’s demonstration on AI-driven clinical documentation.
Cybersecurity will be a key topic, focusing on protecting patient data in increasingly digital healthcare environments.
Participants will include local government units across Western Visayas, state universities and colleges with health sciences programs, hospitals, tech incubators, BPO firms, national agencies such as the Department of Health Region VI, academic institutions, and media outlets.
Panel discussions will cover four key areas: talent development, infrastructure, industry collaboration, and strategic branding.
“We’re not just exploring opportunities in healthcare IT, we’re taking concrete steps to become a strong contributor in this space,” Nufable said.
She added that Western Visayas, with its growing talent pool, government support, and strategic location, is positioned to become a key player in the HIMS sector.
The event will end with a HIMS Commitment Signing Ceremony, where participants will pledge to support the region’s healthcare tech ecosystem.
PhilHealth Region 6 will present strategies to improve healthcare access, while local governments will showcase healthcare innovation best practices.
The conference runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days and includes keynote talks, panels, networking, and strategic planning sessions.
Face-to-face attendance is by invitation, but students and interested individuals may join online or register at https://bit.ly/wvhims2025 to secure a spot.
