Police in Western Visayas have expressed full support for the seven-point agenda of acting Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
In a press statement, Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 said Nartatez’s agenda — which will guide his leadership — will be implemented across all levels, from regional to municipal police offices.
PRO-6 said the priorities, which include intensified operations against illegal drugs, loose firearms, and terrorism, as well as enhanced risk management and resource utilization, aim to uplift PNP morale while ensuring a more disciplined and people-centered police service.
“For Western Visayas, this translates to a more strategic approach in addressing local peace and order challenges, improved crowd management during community events, stronger protection of vital installations, and greater support for the men and women in uniform,” PRO-6 said.
The regional office clarified that the five-minute response policy, a flagship project of former PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., will still be implemented.
The policy is part of the “Employing Enhanced Managing Police Operations” or EMPO — one of the key pillars in Nartatez’s seven-point agenda.
Maj. Lailyn Sencil, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the police will strengthen law enforcement operations, particularly against illegal drugs, the proliferation of loose firearms, and local terrorism.
Sencil said the campaign against illegal drugs will focus on both demand and supply reduction.
“Our tactical units will still do dialogues in schools and barangay visitations to talk about the ill effects of illegal drugs and to solicit support from the community on our campaign,” she said.
She added that PRO-6 would sustain its holistic strategy and pursue a relentless crackdown on drug personalities.
Sencil assured the public that under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Josefina Ligan, PRO-6 will continue building safer communities, delivering efficient police services, and strengthening public trust across the region.
