The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6’s weeklong operations across Western Visayas netted 215 wanted persons.
The number includes 34 most wanted persons (MWP) and 181 other wanted persons (OWP).
These arrests were the result of 212 operations conducted by different PNP units in Western Visayas on July 18 to 24, 2022.
Negros Occidental has the highest number of arrested MWPs with 12, followed by Iloilo Province and Capiz with 6 each, Bacolod City and Antique with 3 each and Aklan and Guimaras with 2 arrests each.
Negros Occidental also topped the number of arrested OWPs with 100, Iloilo Province with 43, Bacolod City (13), Antique (9), Aklan (7), Iloilo City (4), Capiz (3), and Guimaras (2).
The most significant accomplishment was the arrest of Western Visayas’s No. 1 most wanted person on July 20, 2022 in the mountainous area of Sitio Antolihawan, Barangay Toyungan in Calinog, Iloilo.
The subject was identified as Joel Leyble, 29, of Barangay Toyungan, Calinog, Iloilo who is facing three counts of rape and attempted murder.
The operation was launched by combined police and army operatives.
Police Brigadier General Flynn E Dongbo, PRO-6 Director, congratulated all the unit commanders and their tracker teams for the laudable accomplishments in a weeklong operation.
“Let us continue and intensify our campaign against wanted persons in the region. And may these arrests serve as a stern warning to the remaining wanted to surrender and to submit themselves to authorities,” Dongbo added.
