A 13-hour power interruption will affect consumers in Mandurriao, Iloilo City as MORE Power undertakes the preventive maintenance of its Mandurriao substation on Oct 11, 2020.
In an advisory, MORE Power said the power outage will begin 4 am until 5 pm. Apart from the maintenance works on the substation, the distribution utility will also conduct line maintenance works such as replacement of rotting poles and cross-arms and installation of Automatic Circuit Reclosers.
MORE Power had said that the maintenance works aims to prolong the life of the substations and prevent more massive and longer brownouts.
The distribution utility has finished similar works on the City Proper, Jaro, LaPaz, and Molo Substations.
Apart from the Mandurriao substation works, a 6-hour brownout will also affect LaPaz feeder 4 in LaPaz district. This is to give way to the request of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) to relocate the 69-kV lines so it can finish the construction of the pedestrian overpass across Burgos Street, LaPaz.
The outage will occur from 4 am to 10:30 am Sunday.
Since the ISAT-U works involves Line 4 of the 69-kV lines, which supplies electricity to Mandurriao and Jaro Substations, a 30-minute brownout will also affect Jaro Feeders 1 and 2 to tie up or transfer some of the load of LaPaz Feeders 2 and 3 and avoid longer brownouts in areas under Jaro Substation.
MORE POWER WORKER INFECTED
Meanwhile, MORE Power reported that one of its employees assigned to its Customer Services Office in Hotel Del Rio in Molo, Iloilo City tested positive for COVID-19.
The distribution utility said the employee was immediately placed under quarantine.
“Our payment center in Hotel Del Rio will be temporarily closed on October 8, 2020, as we disinfect the area and place our on-site staff in quarantine after RT-PCR swab testing. We are cooperating with health officials to ensure that the virus does not spread,” the firm said in a statement.
For now, consumers can use MORE Power’s online billing and online payment systems.
“Our 24/7 hotlines are also available to address your concerns and inquiries. We will continue to monitor the situation and update the public.”
