Bacolod City – The City District Engineering Office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) assured that it immediately acts on complaints pertaining to national government projects here.
DPWH District Engineer Jaime Javellana issued the statement Friday in connection with the recent resolution of Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. citing the repeated construction works along Circumferential Road near the Bacolod Government Center (BGC).
Javellana said he immediately conducted an ocular inspection on the project and discussed the matter with the contractor who assured to hasten the completion of the project.
He said only a small portion of the roadwork remains unfinished.
Javellana said his office is still conducting an inventory of national government-funded projects in the city as he only recently assumed his post from Engr. Abraham Villareal who was reassigned to the 1st District Engineering Office in Negros Occidental.
Javellana said he also sent an official answer to the city council regarding the matter.
Gamboa earlier asked DPWH-Bacolod to update the City Council on the repeated construction works along Circumferential Road near the Bacolod Government Center (BGC).
Gamboa said these road constructions or repairs are causing traffic congestion along Circumferential Road and compromised motorist’s safety.
The City Council also earlier asked the DPWH to expedite the road construction and repair works in some areas in the city.
Gamboa said the DPWH should fast track the road construction and repair works along Circumferential Road, Carlos Hilado highway near the Bacolod Government Center and Cabug-Circumferential intersection.
He also urged the DPWH to install reflectorized warning signs during constructions or repairs.
