ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 54-year-old employee of the Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) here died in a road mishap at Barangay Bolo here Wednesday evening.
Police identified the victim as Rogelio Deviente of Barangay Liong here who died while being treated in a private hospital here.
Investigation by the Traffic Section of the Roxas City Police Station indicated that Deviente was on his way home on a tricycle when he sideswiped the rear wheel of a truck parked along the road.
Because of the strong impact, the victim lost consciousness as his head hit the road pavement.
Members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Roxas City applied first aid on the victim before he was taken to the hospital.
The driver of the truck voluntarily surrendered to the police while the tricycle is now in the custody of Bolo officials.
It was learned that the truck driver did not place a warning device when he parked his vehicle along the road.
