BACOLOD City – A man wanted for murder was killed after he allegedly resisted police operatives in Barangay Alangilan here, while his two brothers were arrested at Barangay Granada here Tuesday.
Lieutenant Melchor Tolentino, head of Police Station 5, identified the fatality as
Jumar Marcelino, a native of Toboso, Negros Occidental.
Marcelino was the third most wanted person in the town, according to the police.
Tolentino said policemen were supposed to serve an arrest warrant against Marcelino when he allegedly attacked one of the cops with a bolo, prompting the latter to shoot him.
However, the suspect continued his attempt to hack the police officer, forcing the latter to shoot him again.
Tolentino said Marcelino suffered gunshot wounds on the chest and leg. He died at a hospital.
The police officer was unharmed in the attack.
Meanwhile, Marcelino’s brothers, John Lee, 28; and Mario, 21, were also arrested on orders of Judge Dyna Doll Chongson-Trocio of the Regional Trial Court Branch 40 in Silay City. They were not allowed to post bail.
The brothers were transferred to Toboso.
Tolentino said the siblings were among the five suspects in a murder case in the town this year.
Tolentino said the three brothers have been hiding in their relative’s house at Barangay Granada for about four months now.
Their father was also arrested while their uncle is still at large, the station commander added.
