BACOLOD CITY — An alleged militiaman of the New People’s Army wanted in the killing of a man in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, three years ago was arrested in Barangay San Miguel, La Carlota City, on Wednesday.
Police served an arrest warrant for murder against “Ben-Ben,” 35, of Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla, an alleged member of Yunit Militia under Central Negros 1, Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros, Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, or CN1-KRNCBS.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region classified the suspect as the fifth most wanted person in the region.
According to PRO-NIR, the accused was allegedly involved in a 2023 shooting in Moises Padilla, where he and four companions invited the victim outside his house supposedly to talk, then shot him.
The manhunt operation, led by the Sagay City Police Station, reflected the regional office’s intensified efforts to dismantle criminal elements and NPA-linked personalities while maintaining peace and order across the region.
PRO-NIR highlighted the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and coordination among police units in tracking down fugitives who pose threats to public safety and community security.
