Wanted ex-police trainee nabbed

BACOLOD City – A former police trainee in Iloilo City was arrested at Zone 7, Barangay Handumanan here last Wednesday for failure to attend court hearings.

Police Major Richard Fajarito, head of Police Station 10, said former Police Officer 1 Glenn Garbosa, 33, of Barangay 35 here was the subject of a bench warrant.

Fajarito said they have been monitoring Garbosa for a few months until they were able to corner him at the house of his live-in partner.

Police operatives served Garbosa a bench warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 37 in Iloilo City on Nov. 4, 2022 for failing to appear in his scheduled court hearing.

The hearing is related to a case for violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law, and robbery filed against him.

In 2017, Garbosa allegedly extorted money from a retired school teacher in Barangay San Isidro, Jaro district.

He was caught in an entrapment operation and was filed with extortion and robbery charges. A firearm was also recovered from him during the operation.

Fajarito said that Garbosa is detained at the police station and will be transported back to Iloilo City.
