Two people were killed in a shooting incident at a wake shortly after midnight on June 28 in Alimodian, Iloilo.
Alias Franco, 39, a call center agent and resident of Barangay Bancal, Alimodian, and alias Ariel, 41, a delivery worker from Barangay Agsing, Alimodian, died while undergoing treatment.
Capt. Chrysler John Ledesma, Alimodian police chief, said the suspect, identified only as Bambam, immediately fled after the incident and remained at large as of press time.
Before the shooting, reports said Ariel and Bambam were playing cards at a wake in Sitio Bugsukan, Barangay Quinaspan, a village about 10 kilometers from the Alimodian town proper.
A misunderstanding ensued between the two.
Ledesma said Bambam, an employee of the Alimodian local government assigned to the General Services Office, and Ariel were relatives.
Bambam was seen pulling a gun and shooting Ariel, who sustained gunshot wounds on the left side of his abdomen and the upper right portion of his chest.
Franco was hit by a stray bullet on the right side of his abdomen.
The victims were rushed to Aleosan District Hospital for treatment.
Franco was referred to Western Visayas Medical Center, while Ariel was brought to West Visayas State University Medical Center, but both died.
