Waiter nabbed for gun, drugs in Sigma; laborer slain in Maayon

SIGMA, Capiz – A 44-year-old restaurant waiter was arrested for possessing an unlicensed firearm and suspected illegal drugs on Monday afternoon, Aug. 19, at New Road, Barangay Pagbunitan, Sigma, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Wilmer,” a resident of Barangay Amaga in the same town.
Authorities said residents saw the suspect carrying a firearm, prompting them to alert police.
Responding officers caught the suspect in the act of handling an improvised pistolized shotgun loaded with three live rounds.
They also recovered five sachets of suspected shabu inside a coin purse, along with non-drug items and PHP240 in cash.
The suspect is currently detained at the Sigma Municipal Police Station, and charges are being prepared against him.
