The Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) reported174 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Region 6 on Oct. 23.
Also, the region logged 135 new recovered cases and 2 new fatalities.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in the region is now 15,379, with 2,957 active cases, 12,061 recoveries, and 361 deaths.
163 new local cases, 10 Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI), and 1 Returning Overseas Filipino (ROF) comprise the latest batch of confirmed cases.
Negros Occidental topped the list of new local cases with 84, followed by Iloilo City with 40, Bacolod City with 19, Iloilo province with 14, Capiz with 5 and Guimaras with 1.
The new LSI cases include 5 from Negros Occidental, 4 from Iloilo province, and 1 from Capiz.
The new ROF case is a 29-year-old male from Pavia, Iloilo (WV 15216).
Negros Occidental has the most number of new local cases with 1,260, followed by Iloilo City with 799, Bacolod City with 439, Iloilo province with 358, Capiz with 68, Aklan with 20, Guimaras with 8, and Antique with 5.
Most of the latest recoveries in the region are also from Negros Occidental with 64, followed by Bacolod City with 34, Iloilo province with 24, Capiz with 11, and Guimaras with 2.
Bacolod City also still tops the total number of recoveries in the region with 4,131, followed by Iloilo City (2,844), Negros Occidental (2,783), Iloilo province (1,350), Capiz (620), Guimaras (155), Aklan (117), and Antique (61).
A 76-year-old male from Bacolod City (WV 4050) and a 77-year-old male from San Miguel, Iloilo (WV 12590) were the latest COVID-19 deaths in the region.
Based on the total number of COVID-19 deaths, Bacolod City has the most with 119, followed by Iloilo City with 82, Negros Occidental with 70, Iloilo province with 53, Capiz with 28, Aklan with 7, and Antique and Guimaras have 1 death each.
