BACOLOD CITY – Twenty-four barangays in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, are set to showcase their culinary talents in this year’s Sabor Victorias cook fest.
The event, sponsored by Victorias Milling Company (VMC), VMC Foundation, and Victorias Foods Corporation, is part of the annual Kalamayan Festival celebration at the Victorias City Public Plaza.
The cook fest will highlight the creativity of local cooks in using VMC food products, such as Spanish and Bangus sardines, the popular VMC ham, and other meat products.
Unlike previous cook fests, this year’s event is not a competition but an opportunity to promote community spirit and share blessings with local protectors, VMC and VMC Foundation President Engr. Linley Retirado said.
“We will gather community traffic enforcers, members of the police force and fire brigade, members of the 605th Maneuver Company Regional Mobile Force, and our volunteer mangrove tree planters to enjoy the dishes prepared by our participating barangays,” Retirado said.
“It is part of our thrust to strengthen community bonds, and what better way to foster this bond than through a shared meal,” he added.
Participating barangays will receive VMC food products and are encouraged to feature these ingredients in their dishes without using MSG, artificial coloring, or seasoning.
While the event is not a contest, cash incentives will be provided to participants. Special awards for creativity and presentation will also be given, and cooks are encouraged to share their dishes on social media using the hashtag #SaborVictoriasVMCFoodProducts.
A panel of judges will provide feedback to the cooks regarding flavor, creativity, presentation, and the use of ingredients.
The event is held in partnership with Po’s Gasul and Tanduay Distillers Inc.-Mandalagan Commodities.
