A visually impaired man was arrested in an anti-drug operation in Janiuay, Iloilo, on the late afternoon of April 20.
Police identified the suspect only as alias “Bulag,” 42, a partially blind resident of Barangay San Julian, Janiuay.
He was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Damo-ong, Janiuay.
Members of the Janiuay Municipal Police Station, along with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Team 2, apprehended the suspect after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 3,600.
Police said they also recovered four more sachets of suspected shabu and several non-drug items from the suspect.
Capt. Randy Lambungan, Janiuay police chief, said the seized drugs weighed about 55 grams and had an estimated value of PHP 374,000.
Lambungan said “Bulag” used to serve as a runner for drug personalities based in Janiuay.
He said the suspect later took over operations by sourcing his supply from a drug dealer in Iloilo province.
Police conducted a three-week surveillance operation before arresting the suspect.
The suspect is under the custody of the Janiuay Municipal Police Station and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
