BACOLOD CITY — The Visayan Bloc in the House of Representatives urged colleagues in government and the public to reject “distractions and political theatrics” as they expressed full support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. amid ongoing corruption controversies.
“When a President confronts corruption at this scale, resistance is inevitable. And so is the duty of those who profess to serve the people: to stand firm, to stay focused, and to finish the work started by the President,” the group said in a statement released through Bacolod Rep. Alfredo “Albee” Benitez.
The group urged the public to unite behind reforms aimed at strengthening institutions, restoring public trust and delivering meaningful change.
“The fight against corruption is bigger than any individual, administration, or party — and it is a fight we must see through, together,” Benitez said.
The bloc reiterated its support for the administration’s anti-corruption efforts.
“Good governance is not a partisan project; it is a moral obligation,” Benitez said.
Benitez said Marcos has been the target of political attacks intended to distract the nation from the administration’s core reform agenda.
“We stand with the President because they stand with every Filipino who deserves honesty, transparency, and accountability in public service,” he added.
He said the Visayan Bloc will remain a partner in the national effort to promote clean and accountable governance and will continue working with the President to help ensure this period becomes a “turning point” for principled leadership.
Former Ako Bicol representative Zaldy Co recently implicated Marcos in alleged PHP 100 billion in budget insertions for 2025, alongside former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Marcos dismissed the allegation during a recent visit to Negros Occidental, saying he did not want to dignify Co’s claims.
The allegations surfaced as the Senate continues to investigate reported anomalies in flood control projects.
