BACOLOD City – A village watchman was found dead in a bamboo plantation at Hacienda Margarita, Barangay Consing, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Elmer Ortencio of the said village.
Based on a report from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here, police received a call from Barangay Captain Rio Jemilla, informing them about the incident.
The victim was allegedly abducted by unidentified fully armed men around 3 p.m. that day. His body was then later found around 11 p.m. with gunshot wounds.
Police are still investigating the incident.
Earlier that day, a burning incident allegedly perpetrated by the New People’s Army (NPA) was also reported at the said village, destroying an estimated P16.6 million worth of heavy equipment.
Meanwhile, the provincial police force has condemned the said incident.
