Village under ‘block lockdown’

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Some 30 houses in barangay Mongpong here are under “block lockdown” due to surging cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Punong Barangay Ricky Donato said the lockdown was imposed after 15 residents contracted the virus.

Donato added that the city and provincial governments provided aid to the affected households.

Some individuals initially objected to the lockdown, but they were convinced to follow to prevent the virus from spreading.

He asked his constituents to follow health protocols and the face mask ordinance.

“It’s not hard to follow the simple ordinance but they will be surprised should the Anti-Covid Task Force will conduct an operation to round up the violators,” he said.
