BACOLOD City – A security guard was injured in a shootout with four unidentified armed men inside a residential village at Barangay Vista Alegre here early Thursday.
Wounded was David Albarquez, 40, of Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Lieutenant Conrado Espino Jr., head of Police Station 7, said the suspects entered the village’s back portion and first went to the covered court where they saw a security guard identified as Alddy Granton, 33, of Barangay Estefania here.
Espino said the perpetrators allegedly threatened Granton at gunpoint and took his service firearm, radio handset, and wallet containing P900, they then proceeded to the guardhouse where they saw Albarquez.
A gunfire followed when other security guards retaliated at the perpetrators who were wearing bonnets, the station commander added.
Albarquez was hit on his left foot during the shootout and was taken to a hospital while the perpetrators fled, leaving Granton unharmed.
Police recovered from the scene a slug of an unknown caliber.
Espino said they are investigating the motive of the armed suspects in invading the village.
“Hindi natin alam kung magnanakaw sila, kasi marami naman doon na mga bahay pero sa guardhouse sila pumunta. May grudges din tayo na tinitingnan,” he added.
