A village official was arrested after a police anti-illegal drug operation early morning of Oct. 10 in Badiangan, Iloilo.
The suspect, a 25-year-old barangay kagawad known as “Ladog” from Indorohan, Badiangan, was arrested in a buy-bust operation.
Members of the Badiangan Municipal Police Station initially reported seizing six grams of suspected shabu from the suspect.
Badiangan police chief Capt. Jorge Lenantud later said the seized drugs weighed around 16 grams with a standard drug price of PHP 108,800.
A concerned citizen allegedly tipped off police about the suspect’s illegal drug activities.
After more than two months of monitoring, operatives confirmed Ladog’s alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
He allegedly sourced his supply from Iloilo City and distributed it in Badiangan municipality.
The suspect is in the custody of the Badiangan Municipal Police Station and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Republic Act 9165 penalizes the sale, possession, and distribution of dangerous drugs, with penalties determined by quantity and other factors.
