A village official from Janiuay, Iloilo is facing drug peddling charges.
Randy Cornilla alias Barok, the No. 1 Kagawad of Barangay Matag-ub, Janiuay was arrested in a buy-bust operation at his house in Sitio Kinambud afternoon of Nov. 12.
Members of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (IPPO-PDEU), IPPO Provincial Intelligence Unit and Janiuay Municipal Police Station seized 14 sachets of suspected shabu and other non-drug items from the suspect.
Captain Jorge Lenantud, IPPO-PDEU team leader, said the seized drugs weighed around 50 grams with a standard drug price of P340,000.
The suspect was arrested after a three-month monitoring operation.
Police believed that the suspect had been into illegal drug pushing for more than a year already.
His supply came from Iloilo City and was just brought to him.
While Barok did not admit his drug pushing, he claimed to have been using illegal drugs for about 10 years already.
He said that he’s only using when he’s tired.
The suspect is now detained and will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
