VICTORIAS CITY, Negros Occidental — The Philippine Statistics Authority-Negros Occidental has formally turned over the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System data files to the Victorias City government, a move expected to strengthen local-level statistics and support evidence-based planning and decision-making.
The turnover was held on May 19, 2026, in Victorias City and was announced by the PSA-Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office in a press release dated May 21, 2026, with Reference No. 2026-05-1845-98.
Through the CBMS, the local government unit gains access to comprehensive and disaggregated data that can guide policy formulation, resource allocation, identification of priority sectors, and the design of targeted interventions responsive to the needs of its constituents.
The ceremonial signing was led by Mayor Abelardo D. Bantug III, City Planning and Development Coordinator Dr. Evangeline Alo, EnP, and Data Protection Officer Milogen Canoy, together with PSA officials and representatives.
Bantug personally welcomed the PSA staff and expressed appreciation for facilitating the official turnover of the CBMS data to the city government.
The mayor emphasized that the data represents the city’s shared commitment to evidence-based governance, transparency, and improved public service for every Victoriashanon.
Bantug also reiterated the city government’s commitment to ensuring the integrity, protection, and responsible use of the data.
He formally received the flash drive containing the 2024 CBMS data files.
Joining the mayor during the turnover were Alo, Canoy, Vice Mayor Derek Palanca, Atty. Meddie Arbolado Jr. and members of the City Council.
The data files were officially delivered by representatives from the PSA-Negros Occidental Provincial Statistical Office, led by Supervising Statistical Specialist Diesah S. Biaoco.
Also present from PSA were Statistical Specialists II Antonietta A. Gador and Fredimar M. Gonzales, and Information Systems Analyst I Benjie Lee P. Serinas.
The turnover underscores the continuing collaboration between PSA and Victorias City in making accurate and up-to-date data accessible for long-term development planning, transparency, and effective public service delivery.
The CBMS is designed to generate localized data that helps local governments identify needs at the community level and craft interventions based on measurable indicators rather than broad estimates.
