Victorias police probe killing of man found in cane field

BACOLOD CITY — Police are investigating the killing of a 34-year-old man whose body was found in a sugarcane field in Hacienda Angelina 1, Barangay 12, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday, a week after he left his home.
Authorities identified the victim as alias “Bon-Bon.”
Investigators said the victim left his home in Barangay 1 on Sept. 29, saying he was going to Silay City.
Police said he did not disclose whom he intended to meet or what he planned to do there.
A week later, the victim was found dead in the sugarcane field with a gunshot wound to the head.
A sugar worker discovered the body after following bloodstains in the area, police said.
According to police, the victim’s family said Bon-Bon had reportedly been linked to theft cases.
Authorities stressed that the information remains subject to further investigation.
Police have yet to identify any suspect or establish a motive for the killing.
