BACOLOD City – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran reminded residents here to be careful even after the quarantine status of the city was de-escalated “because the coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID 19 is still around.”
Familiaran said that they are happy that the quarantine status of the city was “eased” from General Community Quarantine (GCQ) to Modified GCQ.
“We have flattened the curve, but COVID-19 is still there,” the vice mayor said.
He reminded residents to continue observing basic health protocols such as wearing of face mask and face shield, constant washing of hands, and social distancing.
“We have to preserve our gains in the fight against COVID-19.”
The vice mayor also said they are continuously working to further slow the spread of the virus.
He noted that the COVID-19 cases in the city are steadily going down.
Familiaran also said that practically all high-risk sectors underwent surveillance testing, including food delivery drivers.
The latest update from the Department of Health Region 6 as of Dec 3, 2020 showed that Bacolod City only posted 4 new confirmed cases.
“There should be no room for complacency,” Familiaran said.
