BACOLOD City – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said he will hold a caucus with Grupo Progreso (GP) members to discuss committee chairmanships in the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP).
In an interview with Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod, Familiaran said the tentative schedule for the caucus is on June 29.
He said he is currently checking the schedules of GP councilors, as some of them are currently still outside the country.
Familiaran also said it has been the SP’s tradition that the senior council member will hold major committees even as they check the qualifications of other councilors.
The SP has 31 existing committees and each councilor can hold a maximum of two chairmanships.
The GP coalition won all but one seat of the 12-member city council (excluding ex-officio members).
City Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., a member of the opposition Asenso for Better Bacolod-Magbinuligay Kita sa Kauswagan coalition, beat Marlon Solidum for the last spot.
The newly-elected councilors will assume office on June 30.
