Vergel “Aerial Voyager” Meneses just can’t stop soaring in the Philippine basketball scene despite entering retirement 16 years ago.
A member of the PBA 40 Greatest Players, Meneses was one of the greatest athletes the country has ever seen with his array of aerial exhibition moves during his playing years.
After leaving PBA’s doors, Meneses entered public service and is currently the mayor of Bulakan, Bulacan.
The 51-year-old PBA legend is inking his name in Bulacan history books as one of the most efficient mayors with his efforts in keeping his municipality safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Albeit being a newcomer in politics, Meneses has shown he can handle the challenges of being a leader, especially now in this trying times.
Recognizing his leadership and excellence, the PBA Press Corps is set to award Meneses the President’s Award.
Meneses would have delivered his speech last March 16, 2020, but the Awards Night got postponed due to the crisis brought by the pandemic.
