The Volleyball Community Gives Back to the Philippines (VCGBPH), a group led by top volleyball players in the country such as Alyssa Valdez, Gretchen Ho, Charo Soriano, and Dzi Gervacio, initiated a drive to raise funds to help produce personal protective equipment (PPE) for the frontliners’ amid the COVID-19 crisis.
VCGBPH was formed last 2013 during the devastation brought by Typhoon Yolanda where the group raised funds to help the victims affected.
VCGBPH’s goal is to produce at least 2,500 PPE’s, but also aims to increase the number once Valdez and the rest can find a steady supplier for the materials needed.
Valdez then contacted designer Pablo Cabahug who expressed his desire to produce PPE’s in his shop and later on kept in touch with Soriano for the materials and the decision to revive VCGBPH.
Aside from Cabahug, the group also contacted other designers and sewing companies to help with the production and give others the chance to help and earn amid the crisis.
“We wanted to do our part as much as we can. We contacted the rest of our group and planned on how to produce PPEs in the quickest time possible,” said Soriano.
