The most controversial basketball coach in the country right now just resigned from his post and is leaving the UST Growling Tigers.
Head coach Aldin Ayo, who was involved in the illegal hidden practice bubble in Sorsogon together with his basketball men’s squad in UST, has filed his resignation which was accepted with a heavy-heart by the university.
Together with Ayo were his assistant coaches, Mr. Mcjour Luib and Mr. Jinino Manansala, who also decided to resign with their leader.
“It is with a heavy heart that the University of Santo Tomas accepts the resignation of Mr. Aldin Ayo, Head Coach of the UST Men’s Basketball Team, together with the resignations of Mr. Mcjour Luib and Mr. Jinino Manansala as Assistant Coaches,” wrote in the statement of UST’s secretary-general.
It was on Monday when Ayo reportedly passed his resignation letter to UST. The university deliberated for dour days and eventually accepted the resignation.
Luib, who has been with Ayo since his tenure in the NCAA Season 91, remained loyal to his mentor by taking the same path.Meanwhile, Manansala, also served as one of the assistant coaches under Ayo and was supposed to lead the Tiger Cubs in the UAAP juniors.
“Rest assured that the university will remain committed to the welfare of the student-athletes and that the process of rebuilding athletic programs, particularly that of the Men’s Basketball Team, through compassion and competence, will commence,” continued UST secretary-general’s statement.
