USAID supports education continuity with learner’s and teacher’s kits for Mt. Kanlaon eruption-affected schools

La Castellana, Negros Occidental – In response to the recent eruption and continuing unrest of Mt. Kanlaon, USAID has donated vital learner’s and teacher’s kits to support the educational needs of affected schools in the Municipality of La Castellana in Negros Occidental.

The learner’s kit includes notebooks, crayons, pencils, scissors, pad paper, a glue stick, an envelope, and a sharpener.

Meanwhile, the teacher’s kit includes an expandable brown and plastic envelope, a ream of bond paper, a folder, a class record, a stapler, staple wire, a whistle, a flashlight, and a plastic box.

The John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation-Bacolod provided space to serve as storage for these kits.

Benefiting from these kits are 2,120 K-3 learners and 70 K-3 teachers from nine affected schools in La Castellana.

These schools are Don Generoso M. Villanueva Elementary School, Biaknabato Elementary School, Cabagna-an Elementary School, Mananawin Elementary School, Mansalanao Elementary School, Masulog Elementary School, Old Fabrica Elementary School, Pacita Elementary School, and Sag-ang Elementary School.

The learner’s and teacher’s kits aim to ensure that learning continues despite the challenges posed by the volcanic eruption.
