The University of San Agustin’s Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BA Comm) showcased the creativity, talent, and growing influence of its young communicators during the highly anticipated Sinag ng Bayan: The Red Carpet Event held on Nov. 24 at the 7th Floor Conference Room of the CPMT Building.
The annual celebration highlighted the standout accomplishments of BA Comm students across documentary filmmaking, development communication, integrated marketing communication, and digital publishing. Guided by the theme “Sinag ng Bayan,” the event illuminated student works that captured heritage, addressed social issues, and reflected innovative communication strategies fit for today’s evolving media landscape.
In the Documentary Filmmaking category (COM 121), Black Sheet Productions’ “Bwas Masuksuk Kita Hablon” emerged as a crowd favorite, earning the People’s Choice Award along with recognitions for editing and overall documentary excellence. Reel One & DG Productions’ “Bago ang Prutas” also impressed judges with its strong visual materials, winning Best Film Poster and Best Teaser. Kawal Productions’ “Uniporme” secured the Best Director award, highlighting its effective storytelling approach.
Development Communication entries (COM 103) emphasized community-centered advocacy. KLINK won Best Poster for Change, Amlig Iloilo received Best Reels for Change, and Amoma Collective earned the Social Change Advocate Award for its comprehensive campaign proposal. KLINK, Amlig Iloilo, and Dighay likewise placed among the top entries in the category.
Marketing creativity took the spotlight in COM 108 Integrated Marketing Communication as PRism Communications dominated the category with wins for Best Slogan, Best Reels, and Best Integrated Marketing Plan. The Aperture was also honored with the Creative Strategies Award for its inventive campaign direction.
In Digital Publishing (COM 120), “Sibol” by Rynshien Joy Olivete was named Best Film Poster—a piece that also captured the People’s Choice Award in the Filmmaking category (COM 109). The same category saw Paldo Productions’ “Hupás” securing Best Picture and Best Editing, while “Malay Man ya ni Malayan” by Black Sheet Productions swept major technical awards including Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, and Best Sound Design.
Outstanding performances were also recognized, with Frank Erroc Rubio named Best Actor, Charmaine Frosa as Best Actress, Lynard Lachica as Best Supporting Actor, and Vanessa Destiny as Best Supporting Actress.
More than an awarding ceremony, Sinag ng Bayan served as a testament to the passion and dedication of BA Comm students as they continue to craft stories that resonate with audiences and communities alike. The event reaffirmed the program’s commitment to nurturing storytellers who uphold heritage, spark dialogue, and shape the future of media and communication.
As the lights dimmed, one message prevailed: the storytellers of BA Comm continue to shine—bold, creative, and ready to make their mark.
