A substantial payday awaits tennis players competing in the 2025 US Open Grand Slam, set for August 24–September 7 in New York.
On August 7, the United States Tennis Association announced a record-breaking $90 million (PHP5.13 billion) total prize pool—the largest in professional tennis history.
The US Open surpassed its previous record from 2024, when the prize pool reached $75 million (PHP4.28 billion).
According to a USTA breakdown, the 2025 men’s and women’s singles champions will each take home $5 million (PHP285.11 million).
This marks a 39% increase from last year’s US$3.6 million prize in the same category.
The USTA also adjusted the prize structure to benefit more players—from the runners-up to those eliminated in the early rounds.
This year, runners-up will receive $2.5 million (PHP142.63 million), while semifinalists will earn US$1.26 million (PHP71.89 million).
Players exiting in the Round of 64 will still receive US$110,000 (PHP6.28 million).
In the doubles category, the men’s and women’s champions will each earn US$1 million (PHP57.07 million)—a first in US Open history.
Following last year’s tournament, the USTA committed to a double-digit percentage increase for the 2025 prize pool.
All participating players will also receive a US$1,000 (PHP57,071) travel stipend and two hotel rooms.
