The University of the Philippines Visayas, through its Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, marked Alab ng Puso: UP Public Service Day with the four-day Paghanduraw Exhibit, featuring some of UPV’s most significant public service initiatives through the years.
The exhibit formally opened after a short program at the Miagao Cultural Hall on June 16, 2026.
It was displayed at the venue for two days before moving to the UPV New Administration Building in Miagao for another two days.
UPV Pahinungod Director Jerry Ian Leonida said UPV offices, academic units, and student organizations were asked to revisit their public service history and identify three of their most significant and impactful initiatives.
The exhibit was featured during the livestream of the UP System’s Alab ng Puso: UP Public Service Day 2026 on June 18.
The celebration coincided with UP’s 118th founding anniversary and featured live reports on activities held across UP’s constituent universities.
The materials contributed to the Paghanduraw Exhibit focused on education and training, coastal resource management, health promotion, environmental conservation, community development, cultural preservation, volunteerism, and student engagement, among other areas.
Leonida said the exhibit also highlights UPV’s partnerships with various sectors “to address real-world concerns and create meaningful change.”
Chancellor Clement Camposano, in a message delivered by Vice Chancellor for Administration Farisal Bagsit, said, “through the stories, milestones, and collective achievements, the exhibit offers a meaningful opportunity to revisit the many ways UPV has contributed to social transformation, community empowerment, and nation building.”
“Paghanduraw reminds us that public service is not merely a mandate, but a shared responsibility, that connects the university with the people it serves,” he added. (Written by Carlson Alelis, IPO)
