To formalize the partnership in the conduct of community-based research projects, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony was held between the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) and the Valencia Family Foundation Inc. (VFFI) at the Office of Initiatives in Culture and the Arts Conference Room, Main Building, UPV Iloilo City campus, on April 27, 2026.
UPV Chancellor Dr. Clement Camposano and VFFI President Edwin Valencia formally signed the agreement, with Division of Professional Education Chair Dr. Jonny Pornel and VFFI Corporate Secretary and Treasurer Gina Valencia serving as witnesses.
The MOU is expected to further strengthen the research culture in UPV, as it also supports the funding of research projects aimed at identifying critical educational needs of underprivileged elementary students.
Faculty members of the Division of Professional Education (ProfEd) and officers of the VFFI attended the ceremony. (Written by Asst. Prof. Martin Ryan Suamen, ProfEd)
