UPV Biology alumni mark 50th homecoming

The University of the Philippines Visayas College of Arts and Sciences’ Division of Biological Sciences will mark its 50th anniversary with the Clovers’ Grand Alumni Homecoming on July 24, 2026, at the UP Visayas Auditorium in Iloilo City.
The milestone event carries the theme “Four Leaves. Fifty Years. One Legacy.” and celebrates the division’s history from 1976 to 2026.
The homecoming will be held at the Auditorium, UPV City Campus, with registration of Clovers alumni set at 4 p.m.
Bingo socials will begin at 5 p.m., with all registered alumni receiving two bingo cards.
Additional bingo cards will cost PHP 100 each.
Door prizes include electric fans, a rice cooker, an oven toaster, a microwave oven, a blender, and other items.
The program proper will start at 6 p.m., with Dr. Patricio Palmes and Dr. Agnes Maleficio-Villaflor serving as emcees.
Dr. Ruel Malata will lead the invocation.
The program will include the singing of “Lupang Hinirang” and “UP Naming Mahal” through video presentations.
Dr. Rey Alindong, president of the Clovers Alumni Association, will deliver the welcome remarks.
Dr. Minda Formacion, past chairperson of the Division of Biological Sciences and past chancellor of UP Visayas, will give the inspirational talk.
The dinner and photo opportunity will include a roll call and introduction of each alumni batch by the batch coordinators.
The present faculty of the Division of Biological Sciences will be introduced by Dr. Diana Paguntalan, chairperson of the division.
Each batch will also be asked to submit old photos taken during their stay in the Division of Biological Sciences for inclusion in the PowerPoint presentation.
The program will feature the introduction of the present Clovers’ Alumni Board, which will remain on stage for the awarding of certificates to retired faculty.
Certificates of appreciation will be awarded to all retired Division of Biological Sciences faculty by Dr. Rey Alindong with the present board members.
An intermission number will be presented by the Clovers Alumni Board.
The event will also include the election of a new set of Clovers Alumni Board members.
The newly elected board will take their oath before Dr. Minda Formacion, who will serve as the inducting officer.
All Clovers alumni will also take their oath during the program.
The celebration will feature dance presentations by decades, including the 80s, 90s, 100s, and 110s.
A flash mob and public dance are also part of the homecoming program.
The homecoming highlights the continuing ties among alumni of the UP Visayas Division of Biological Sciences, which has trained generations of students in the biological sciences and related fields.
Organizers said the event will honor retired faculty, reconnect alumni batches, and celebrate five decades of the division’s academic and community legacy.
