The UP Hamili-Hamilia partnered with the WVSU Maaram Organization to conduct an art workshop for Ati children in Brgy. Ipil, Calinog, Iloilo, on Feb. 22, 2025.
The initiative was held in celebration of National Arts Month this February.
More than 30 Ati youth enthusiastically participated in the workshop. WVSU Maaram members guided them in painting with brushes and acrylics, starting with basic shapes on paper. Later, they created landscape paintings on canvas inspired by their surroundings.
For many participants, it was their first time using brushes and paint to create art. The workshop provided a rare opportunity for these children to explore artistic expression. It became a joyful space for them to engage, imagine, and showcase their creativity through their artwork.
The group solicited art materials from artists who wanted to share their craft with indigenous children. Other sponsors included Thrive Art, Krokis Art Shop, Teri del Rosario, Cecilia Velez, Tony Inocencio, and Caiden Ramirez. (Source: UP Hamili-Hamilia)
