UNO-R debuts in 2026 UI GreenMetric rankings

BACOLOD CITY — The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) has entered the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, placing 1,439th globally and 95th in the Philippines.
The ranking marked UNO-R’s first participation in the global sustainability assessment.
The university said it remains committed to developing innovative and inclusive solutions to local and global challenges.
Through small acts of environmental responsibility, UNO-R said it aims not only to improve its ranking but also to fulfill its mission of contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
University President Rev. Fr. Joel A. Alve, OAR, said in a statement posted on the university’s website: “Looking ahead, UNO-R envisions in becoming a premier Catholic university recognized globally for innovation, sustainability, and transformative education.”
The university said it continues to empower its personnel, students and stakeholders to take part in shaping a sustainable future.
UI GreenMetric is a global university ranking system that evaluates institutional sustainability policies and performance across seven categories: setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, education and research, and governance and digitalization.
The 2026 edition covers 2,016 institutions across 110 countries, according to UI GreenMetric.
UNO-R said this was its first year participating in the UI GreenMetric rankings and that it is the only university in Bacolod City included in the 2026 global list. (UNO-R)
