University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos School of Law Holds Oathtaking Ceremony for Law Student Practitioners

The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-R) School of Law conducted the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP) Oathtaking Ceremony on November 30, 2023, at 4:00 in the afternoon.

Held at the Bacolod City Hall of Justice Lobby, the ceremony marked a significant milestone for 57 law students.

The oath-taking, led by the esteemed Executive Judge, Hon. Phoebe Gargantiel-Balbin of the Regional Trial Court of Bacolod City, signified the students’ certification as law student practitioners.

Judge Fernand Castro of the Regional Trial Court Branch 41, graced the event as the guest speaker.

Known as a Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) lecturer and UNO-R Law School professor, Judge Castro shared inspiring insights with the aspiring legal professionals.

Also in attendance were Atty. Dodie Opinion Turla, the Dean of the School of Law; Atty. Aiken Alagban, the CLEP Supervising Lawyer; and Rev. Fr. Leo G. Alaras, OAR, Vice President for Identity, Formation & Mission.

The Law Student Council, under the leadership of Amy Grace Gargar, as well as other student volunteers, also played a vital role in ensuring the success of the ceremony.

The UNO-R School of Law takes pride in this momentous occasion, showcasing its commitment to providing practical legal education and fostering the growth of future legal practitioners.

This certification as law student practitioners represents a crucial step towards realizing their aspirations of becoming full-fledged Recoletos lawyers.
