The United City Football Club (formerly Ceres-Negros FC) is looking to clinch their first 2021 AFC Champions League group stage win after settling for a draw, 1-1, against Beijing Guoan.
United City was able to contain a physical Beijing club for 90 gruelling minutes and gave up a second-half goal in the 73rd minute of the match.
It was team captain Stephan Schrock who drew first blood in the 28th minute. Unfortunately for the United City, it would be their only goal despite several opportunities.
The Beijing squad then picked up their defensive intensity just before the whistle was blown in the first half that made it hard for the squad to penetrate again.
Despite the draw outing in their first game, the United City boys felt they could deliver more and are excited for their matchup against South Korean professional club Daegu FC.
The match will be kicking off tonight and is United City’s second match on the Champions League group stage.
Meanwhile, Daegu will also be looking to bounce back huge after dropping their last match against Kawasaki FC, 3-2.
United City will still have four matches in the group stage after the Daegu clash and hopes to have a positive result to increase their chances of boosting their points.
