BACOLOD CITY – The body of an unidentified man was found in a river in Barangay Sag-ang, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, on Thursday.
Police said a witness discovered the decomposing remains while passing through the area to harvest vegetables that morning.
Police Major Melchor Patna-an, La Castellana police chief, said the victim was wearing a blue T-shirt, gray underwear, and shorts.
Patna-an said there were no visible wounds on the body, and the victim may have been dead for about five days.
He added the victim might have been swept away by strong river currents due to recent heavy rains affecting neighboring areas.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the victim’s identity and the circumstances of his death.
The discovery follows an incident in Talisay City on Monday, when three bodies were found in two villages.
As of Thursday, only one of those victims had been identified.
Authorities continue to investigate to determine the motive and identify the remaining victims.
