BACOLOD City – The decomposing body of an unidentified man was found buried under a tower at Purok Katilingban, Barangay Vista Alegre here yesterday.
Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, said that a farmer, who was supposed to get his carabao in the area, smelled foul odor.
He then reported it to the barangay and when they dug up the area, they saw a leg and knee of a person, prompting them to call for police assistance.
Bonilla said the body was buried three feet below the ground and was probably there for about three days already. He added that the victim was naked.
Bonilla said the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) will get a fingerprint of the victim to help identify him.
Bonilla said they have already coordinated with other police stations in case there’s reported missing persons in their area in the past months or weeks.
“So far wala pa man feedback until now from other stations,” the station commander said.
Bonilla said a family went to the funeral parlor yesterday afternoon to claim the remains, but they immediately left after learning that policemen will be arriving.
