‘UNegA still a force to reckon with in Negros’

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer on Oct 1 2019 said that the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) is still a force to reckon with in the local and national politics.

This, despite the loss of a UNegA mayor to a colleague from Love Negros party in the recent League of Municipal Mayors-Negros Occidental chapter elections.

Mayor Jilson Tubillara of San Enrique lost to Enrique Miravalles of Valladolid by one vote.

Ferrer, who is the UnegA president, said he will review the Constitution and By-Laws of the party to hold any member accountable for disloyalty amid reports that a UnegA mayor “jumped fence” during the LMP elections.

He said that the member may be expelled from the party.

It is the obligation of a member to be loyal to the party, Ferrer said.

Former Negros Occidental governor Alfredo Marañon is still UnegA chairman.

Ferrer also hinted that a loyalty check will be conducted to strengthen party lines.

He also urged the newly-elected LMP president to give equal representation of the mayors regardless of party affiliation.
