A toddler left unattended died of apparent drowning in Carles, Iloilo.
The incident occurred late morning of June 16 but was reported to police the following day.
The victim, Prince, aged 1 year and 4 months, was found face down on the shoreline of Barangay Barangcalan, Calagnaan Island by his father.
According to the father, Robert, he left the child in the care of his wife’s 28-year-old uncle while he went fishing.
However, the man had also returned from fishing and fell asleep, leaving the child unsupervised.
Prince reportedly left the house and walked toward the shore, which was about 25 meters away.
He was brought to Jesus Colmenares District Hospital in Balasan town, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police said the child’s mother works as a stay-in helper in Iloilo City.
