With the enhanced community quarantine preventing everyone from going out of their respective homes to help stop the spread of COVID-19, the former PBA guard and now College of Saint Benilde coach decided to bring his basketball school online.
The TY Tang Basketball School’s usual weekly clinic in Xavier School is now conducted online to practice social distancing, with Tang posting different workout videos on his social media accounts.
Sometimes, Tang posts a specific workout for the day and other times goes live on his Instagram account to execute the workout to be done on that day.
“Definitely basketball will not be gone but is just put on hold. It is with this reason that I find hope for the young basketball aspirants to keep pursuing as this game we all love will never die,” said Tang.
One of Tang’s main goal is to also encourage the kids and the athletes to stay at home and help the frontliners by practicing social distancing amid the ongoing pandemic.
Tang also emphasized that the main target in his school is the younger generation of players which he tags as the future of Philippine basketball.
“This gave me the idea that I can still share my passion and knowledge, especially to the younger generations, who some may aspire and dream to be a pro athlete someday. This will at the same time broaden the community where I can share my expertise,” Tang added.
